What is Counselling?

'Counselling and psychotherapy are umbrella terms that cover a range of talking therapies. They are delivered by trained practitioners who work with people over a short or long term to help them bring about effective change or enhance their wellbeing.’  (BACP definition of counselling and psychotherapy).

My approach

Psychodynamic Counselling

My approach stresses the importance of conscious, unconscious and past experiences in shaping our current behaviour.  By developing a therapeutic alliance, we can explore both past and present experiences that may be impacting on your life. We can also look at the dynamics of our own developing relationship which can provide ideas about how to develop better coping strategies.

Code of conduct

Confidentiality

Treating what you say with respect and confidentiality is very important to me. I’m a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), a national organisation setting standards within the profession. I abide to their code of conduct and ethics for practitioners
